The movie is alright, but I've always had three problems with it. 1) Bilbo does not keep his arc from the book of slowing growing from a homebody to an adventurer. 2) Jackson tried to make it as epic as his The Lord of the Rings films (for example, all the slow motion action at the climax) instead of keeping it to a small-scale adventure. LotR felt like Jackson compressed; The Hobbit felt like he expanded. 3) The CGI is overused and obvious; Azog is cartoonish compared to the LotR orcs.
